Sunflowers in field at sunset
Full Image

Finding a field of sunflowers is not that difficult. Find one at the right moment is. The peak bloom is brief. After a week or two weight of these large plants cause the heads to sag and face downward. Then you have to hope for the right light and weather. After many years of looking for a field of sunflowers to photograph I came across this one. I had almost given up for the day as the forecasted clouds created a dark and dreary evening. About half way back to my car I noticed a large break in the clouds near the horizon. I quickly returned just in time to capture this image.
