Water Falls
Full Image

It gets very quiet along the north shore of Lake Superior in the Middle of winter. But it often produces some unique and interesting landscapes. Ice pancakes form when only specific conditions occur. Churning open water in sub zero temperatures will cause ice to rotate and slowly grow into circular floating rafts. The morning I captured this image it was ten below and after several hours along icy shoreline I was happy to retreat to the hot tub and roaring fire in my North Shore lodge.
