Mountain Lake

Most everyone visiting Glacier National Park passes by Lake Mc Donald. Going to the Sun Road, the main road through the park, runs along its' Eastern shoreline before climbing almost thirty-five hundred feet over the continental divide at Logan Pass. On this, my last evening in the Park, I took the time to walk and explore its' pebble shoreline. It was a magnificent evening. Warm, summer temperatures and calm winds produced a sheet of glass on the Lake's surface reflecting the clouds and mountain in the distance. Two disparate sounds disturbed the silence: the occasional car passing by and the jumping of trout sending ripples through the calm, clear water.
