Read Leaf on Frozen Stream
Full Image

The brilliant colors most people associate with fall last only a brief moment each year. The dazzling display of color quickly disappear as the trees shed their leaves and make way for the more subtle nuances of late fall. It is during this transition time interesting events and conditions create unique opportunities for those willing to take the time to look. The up and down from warm to cold conditions create unusual events. Freezing, thawing, and then re-freezing of water created an abstract pattern of ice crystals in this small stream. The added rich copper color of a fallen oak leaf provide contrasts to the cool blue of the ice, and conveys the transition from fall to winter.
